Los Angeles & Orange County Dog Bite Lawyers

Dedicated Southern California Dog Bite Attorneys

Although our experienced dog bite lawyers are here to help you if you have already been bitten by a dog, there are also some steps you can take to help avoid being attacked:

  • If a dog is inspecting you (sniffing you or otherwise appraising you), remain still and calm. The dog will likely determine you are not a threat and leave you alone. If you run, its instincts may be triggered, causing it to attack.
  • Don’t disturb a dog or interfere with a dog while it is eating, sleeping, drinking or caring for its puppies.
  • Don’t startle a dog by running at it or throwing an object at it.
  • If you feel threatened by a dog, remain still with your arms at your sides. Resist the urge to run, as that will only make the situation worse.
  • Don’t discipline a dog by hitting or kicking it.
  • Don’t try to take food or a toy away from a dog.

Some aggressive dogs, despite the preventative measures you take, will still attack. If this happens, try to place a jacket, purse, or any other object you have at hand between you and the dog. Hopefully it will focus on that and give you a chance to get away. If you are knocked to the ground, roll into a ball and cover your ears with your hands. Stay as motionless and silent as you can, as moving and making noise will likely aggravate the attack.

Children and Dog Bites

Take care in teaching your children how to avoid dog bites. By teaching them the general rules listed above, you may help them avoid an attack. Children are often the victims of dog bites and attacks, sometimes because they did not know these general rules.

If you or your child has been attacked by a dog, our attorneys may be able to help. Our dog bite attorneys serve all of Los Angeles and Orange County and are committed to helping dog bites victims get reasonable compensation for their injuries and suffering. When you work with a dog bite lawyer at our offices, you are in good hands. In addition, we do not charge any fees up front and only get paid if you do.
